Three interns joined Nature^Squared over the last term! We would like to introduce them to you (from left to right in the picture).
Daria Selyavina took a Bachelor’s program in Political Science with a minor in Economics and Sustainability at the UvA, and recently completed her master’s program in Environment and Resource Management at the VU Amsterdam. In early September, she started her internship at Nature^Squared. She is interested in greening the financial sector and contributing to nature-positive initiatives, so she is working on projects aimed at mapping cash flows for nature and biodiversity. Daria’s vision for the future is one where people live in harmony with nature, where ecosystems flourish and biodiversity thrives.
Giacomo Bauer is currently completing his Master’s program in Environmental Science, with a focus on policy and economics, at Wageningen University. He started in September 2023 as an intern at Nature^Squared, where he analyses financial flows to better understand how much money governments and private parties spend on nature and biodiversity. Giacomo’s interests are understanding the role of private actors in the equitable sustainable transition and how economies can change to contribute to a more equitable world.
Since September, Jitske Elzinga started as an intern at Nature^Squared. It is part of her Master’s program in Forest and Nature Conservation at Wageningen University. With Jitske’s interest in nature restoration and changing the underestimation people have for the value of nature, Nature^Squared perfectly matches her interests. She will work on the Greener.Land project, where she will deal with the content of the Greener.Land website, such as landscape restoration interventions for around the world. In addition, she will participate in other urban greening projects. She is excited about the opportunity to put her theoretical knowledge into practice and work for a better world, where people and nature go hand in hand.
